Held pull requests

These are deliberately kept out of Nook's main branch until they are fixed and proven:

PRWhat it isWhy it is held
#142Durable recovery for interrupted browser workAudited recovery dead ends, and its database migration numbers (012 to 014) now collide with different work on main. Main has since gained its own account lock and cleanup ledger.
#143Cart cleanup that knows about receiptsAfter a confirmed purchase uses up its own cart line, cleanup reports external_cart_conflict and leaves the cart marked dirty. Needs a redesign.
#147 (backend part)Product inspection and item-progress behaviourKept as a separate, unreleased change.

Everything else on main is in production: the latest backend release (Nov 2, 3:28 PM PST) contains every backend change on main.

Store limits

  • Delta and Apple connect, but their sessions have not lasted (Delta signed out after about 34 idle minutes in testing and again by Oct 31; Apple failed every fresh-browser restore).
  • DoorDash, Resy and Urban Outfitters: connect only; no quotes.
  • DETOURE, the one site Nook set up from its web address that quotes: one product per quote, shipping only, an empty cart required. A purchase there has not been shown yet.
  • Walmart sometimes stops for a human-verification check, which Nook never answers.
  • Instacart: a request for a regular Coca-Cola came back as product_choice_requires_user against an observed 24-can listing; no quote was completed. An alcohol checkout has not been proven to finish (checkout_not_ready). No custom tip.
  • Uber Eats: needs a named restaurant or its link; quotes take two to three minutes.
  • A cart that already has items blocks the quote (existing_cart) at Uber Eats, Instacart, Walmart, Target and sites Nook set up. Nook never changes it. Chewy is the exception: it sets those items aside and brings them back.
  • Per-product caps are the stores' own: Walmart 12, Target 6, Chewy 50. A site Nook set up takes one product per quote.
  • The card a store has selected is checked, never switched, at every store that quotes except Amazon, where Nook chooses the requested saved card.
  • A store that keeps no saved card can only be bought on Nook's approval page, where the person types the card; a yes in chat alone can't buy it. Nook holds that card only in memory, so a restart before the purchase finishes stops it as card_required.

Sites set up from their address

  • Setting up a site (POST /v3/api/agent/site-jobs) is open only to pilot partners; others get site_builder_access_required.
  • Operations Nook generates on a person's account belong to that connection. Another person's connection to the same site gets them only after its own build.
  • Some sites only allow reads: vercel, shopify, porkbun and polymarket refuse writes and purchases (reads_only_site).
  • Some sites refuse Nook's cloud browser outright, for example Ticketmaster, OpenTable and eBay (HTTP 403), GoodRx, Patreon and REI (robot or human checks), Shopify and Letterboxd (Cloudflare checks) and Best Buy (connection resets at sign-in).
  • Several sign-ins failed in Nov 1 testing (among them Ulta, LCSC, McMaster, JD Sports, Cursor, Taco Bell, Vercel and Porkbun). Sign-in fixes shipped on Nov 1 and 2; whether each of those now works is TBD.
  • Signing in with Google inside Nook's cloud browser has not been proven.

Platform limits

  • One person's account at one store runs one thing at a time. Quotes, purchases, operations, address saves, session checks and site builds all share that lock; a second request while it is busy gets 409 in_use.
  • During a release, new requests get 503 service_draining for a moment instead of being cut off. The agent guide doesn't mention it yet.
  • Nook's choice model (Jev) runs through a paid AI gateway. On Oct 25 the gateway returned "payment required" (HTTP 402) until credits were added; none has been recorded since.
  • Every store is reached through browser automation on sites that try to block automation. TBD: store terms-of-service review.
  • The published agent guide matches Nook main byte for byte as of Nov 3.

Testing limits

  • Lab verdicts come from heuristic checks with first-item and budget limitations. In the integration notes' words, a clean label "is not a release gate": inspect each requested item, the actual basket, the full total and cleanup.
  • Results are handed off by hand. Automatic reporting, remote result collection and notifications are future work.
