# How a request flows

> As of Nov 3, 2026, 2:45 PM PST, from Nook main 680daa2f.

Four steps. Nothing is bought without a person's yes.

## 1. Connect

- The agent asks Nook for a connect link, for one store or for all of them.
- The agent sends the link to the person. It works for 30 minutes.
- The person signs in to Nook with their phone. They see the store accounts they have already connected in Nook, each marked signed in or signed out. One tap shares every signed-in account with that agent. A one-store link lets them sign in to that store in Nook's own form. The agent never sees what they type.
- A store counts as connected only after its saved sign-in works again in a brand-new cloud browser.
- The person can see and disconnect every connection on their Nook accounts page.
- Besides the stores that quote, a person can connect sites Nook set up from their web address. Some of those offer named operations instead of quotes, such as searching flights or managing price alerts.

## 2. Quote

- The agent sends the request as structured fields: each item's words, size and quantity, plus optional address, card, budget, tip and store-specific details.
- On Amazon, when the person asks for a new delivery address, the agent can have Nook save it to their Amazon address book first, then quote to it.
- A fresh cloud browser restores the session, finds each product, adds it, reads the checkout and checks it against the request: right products, quantities, options, address, card, and charges that add up to the total.
- The quote comes back as `ready` (with the store's own charge lines and total) or `blocked` (with a reason, and sometimes choices for the person).
- Nook then puts the cart back as it was. Anything it could not put back comes back as a warning on the quote.
- A quote takes about a minute on Amazon, Instacart, Walmart and Chewy, and two to three minutes on Uber Eats.

## 3. The person approves

- The agent shows the person the product, quantity, each charge and the total, and asks.
- Any clear yes to that total counts ("yes", "yep", "buy it"). The agent passes their words exactly.
- The opening request is never the yes, even if it says "order" or "buy".
- If the agent does not send the person's words, the purchase waits on Nook's review page until the person presses Buy there.
- At a store that keeps no saved card, the person always buys on that review page and types the card there. Nook uses it for that one checkout and keeps nothing.

## 4. Order

- Nook opens the quote's exact item again and reads the checkout just before one click.
- It buys at the quote's total or less. It stops and buys nothing if the price went up, or the item, address or card changed.
- It presses the store's final button once and never replays an uncertain press.
- It looks for the store's confirmation and order number. If it pressed but could not read the result, the purchase is marked `uncertain` and must not be retried.

## Where the pieces run

- A cloud browser per connect, quote or purchase, thrown away afterwards (it lives up to an hour).
- Saved sessions are encrypted and stored in a database, not kept in a running browser.
- Sessions are health-checked at about 1 hour, 24 hours and 72 hours. One verified in the last 6 hours is reused without opening a browser.
- One store connection has one browser at a time. A second request while it is busy gets `in_use`.
